I watched this fantastic doc the other day, most of you have probably seen it -- I think it's called BM: Beyond Belief. (it's at Black Dog). it's a super-intriguing behind the scenes look at BM -- the amazing infrastructure, as well as the visionary wackos who make the shit go down.

and i realized, that I can't compare anything Car-Free Commercial Drive Fest to anything i have ever experienced, so much as to BM. not that they're the same, obviously, but there is so much resonance! and then, just what are we doing here...throwing down a fun-for-free, chaotic, wacko gift-econonomy party ....for 30,000 people... and that, plonked right into the middle of a frickin' commercial district. and it WORKS.....it shouldn't, work, but it does --it's a wild paradox. and it somehow seems to bring out humour and generosity from the bankers as freely as the hippies.

that is powerful shit! and we are powerful people.

SO I want to really invite all the Burner extended circles to come PRACTICE your stuff at Car-Free Commercial Drive Day, on Sun July 22. You can have CRAZY FUN and mess benevolently with lots of peoples heads.
